If You Were A Movie, This Would Be Your Soundtrack (2024-Present)
This ongoing video series explores the exchange between memory, music,
and digital media through the collage of public domain footage, personal
diary recordings, and stock imagery, reinterpreted via mixed-media animation
techniques. The result is a living playlist of micro-short films, each incorporating
the music that has shaped my creative identity from a child to today.
Aesthetically, these works draw from the visual language of early 2000s
MTV programming, a formative influence from my childhood spent absorbing
vibrant, bombastic imagery through hours of watching television in my childhood
bedroom. They function as an homage to music videos as an art form—a recognition
of their cultural significance and their deep influence on myself as an artist.
Beyond their form, these films also experiment with distribution as an
experiential medium. By circulating them across Instagram, YouTube, and
TikTok, they reimagine the communal, serendipitous discovery of
music video culture for a generation that may have never experienced its
golden era firsthand, and for a generation nostalgic for what they used to experience
themselves. This body of work has amassed an audience of over 300,000 followers
and generated more than 200 million views, facilitating collaborations with globally
renowned artists and culminating in an exhibition at COSMO Traversere.
